Creating a Distributed environment

I have to do a project in distributed systems.i have to connect 3 laptops
and make them communicate with each other and create a udp connection with
reliability. The most important thing is I have to implement a
REQUEST-REPLY-ACKNOWLEDGMENT or
REQUEST-ACKNOWLEDGMENT-REPLY-ACKNOWLEDGMENT protocol with exactly once
semantic.Please do tell ur suggestions using c or java
